Hey there Piranha Families! We are less than a month away from opening day for 2026 and it’s just about time to register for the swim team. Swim team is open to any member between ages 3 & 18,. no previous swim team experience required. Below is some information that you might find helpful as we prepare for a fantastic 2026 swim season:

Coaching Staff: We are excited to have Beth Nicholson at the helm again this year assisted by Sophie Key and Leighton Livengood, both back for their second year. Coach Sophie will be heading up our Guppy Program and has already been working with Coach Jamie to make sure it is a smooth transition.

Registration & Schedule: We will again use Swimtopia as our swim team management platform. Registration will be open in the next few days and the meet schedule is already posted there. The first day of practice will be Monday, May 18, after school. The practice schedule will be posted soon on our Oak Park Pool Events Calendar and our Piranhas Swim Team Calendar.

Swim Team Open House: Open House is Saturday, May 9, from 9:00-11:00 am at the pool. You’ll be able to meet or catch up with the coaches, try on team suits, and get all your questions answered. (We will have the same team suit as last year, so if yours still fits, no need to buy a new one.)

Volunteer Requirements: Our swim season couldn’t happen without the help of our parents. As your TSA Representatives, James Weischedel and I have been preparing since the end of last season for the upcoming season. Holly Weischedel and Jamie McQuiggan have also already volunteered time to get the season started. In order to allow families to contribute in a variety of ways and to ensure we have the support needed for the season and meets, we will be doing volunteer credits or points a little differently this year. At registration, each family will be asked to register for volunteer opportunities that total at least 10 points. Different jobs will have different point values. The point values were determined after considering factors such as the time required at the meet, time commitments outside of the meet, and whether specialized training is required. (Be on the lookout for more information about some special surprises and opportunities for the families with more than 15 points!) Volunteer requirements are waived for first-year families with only 6 & Under swimmers and last-year families with a final graduating senior.

Cost: The cost to join the swim team is the same as last year: $125 for the first child and $100 for each additional child in the same family. You must be a member of the pool to be on the swim team. Memberships are available on our website.

Special Events: In addition to our 6 swim meets, we have several special events planned:

• Friday, June 5 - Swim Team Kids’ Night and Lock-In
• Monday, June 15 - Spaghetti Dinner
• Thursday, July 9 - Swim Team Trip to Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Point in Greensboro
• Sunday, July 19 - TSA Swim Meet at Triangle Aquatic Center
• Friday, July 31 - Swim Team Banquet
