Swim Meet Tomorrow at Durant Trails
Good evening Piranha Parents!
Our last dual meet of the season is tomorrow evening at Durant Trails at 6:00 pm. We will warm-up at 5:30. I will send heat sheets tomorrow. To help us prepare for tomorrow, Durant Trails has shared the following information with us:
Pool Address:
3010 Hiking Trail, Raleigh, NC 27615
Parking--We try to leave the parking lot open for the visiting team, but it is a relatively small lot, so some of your families probably will have to park on the surrounding streets in the neighborhood. Please remind them to follow normal parking rules. Be mindful not to park at the base of driveways of the homes near the pool and not to park too close to the corners of the streets that intersect the pool.
Food--We have a fairly extensive concessions stand with everything from kielbasa to hamburgers, hotdogs, BBQ and pizza, chips, drinks, and candy. In addition, Kona Ice will be selling cool treats. We now take Venmo and, of course, cash.
Deck space and Seating--Durant has a relatively small deck, and it often becomes crowded rather quickly. Deck chairs will not be available, so please encourage your families to bring their own bag chairs. Your team will utilize the side with the blue canopy (as you enter the pool deck, go left).
Timeline--Your warm-ups for the evening can begin at 5:30, and we will have a volunteer meeting in the clubhouse around 5:40. We will play the national anthem and have a brief senior recognition for one senior. We will begin the medley relays as soon after 6:00pm as possible.
Meet management -- We have a 6-lane pool with lights, bolted and secure dive blocks, and enough parents with experience that I think we can run the meet quickly and smoothly. We will try to keep things running at a good pace and get everybody home at a reasonable hour. We use the Dolphin Timing System and will have one timer per lane. We will merge heats and relays where possible to move the meet along as much as possible.
Parent/Coaches Relay- We will plan to have a fun parent/coaches relay after Breastroke.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
With Piranha Pride,
Kathy
