Summerfield North Results

Greetings Piranha Parents!

Congratulations to Summerfield North on their win last night. The final score was Oak Park 210.33, Summerfield North 300.67 . Individual results can be found here and are posted in SwimTopia.

We had some amazing swimming last night with even more new Team Records! The 8&U Boys Medley Relay (Whalen Murphy, Huntley Castellow, Pearson Ethridge, and Raleigh Barlow) beat their own team record set just last week by just over 8 seconds! They finished with a time of 1:50.41. Graham Kennedy clinched the 6&U Boys Breaststroke Team Record with a time of 20.67. The previous record of 20.85 was held since 2021 by Dylan Weischedel.

Each week the coaches honor swimmers for Sportsmanship and Cheering as well as someone who focused on the goal of the week. This week’s goal was Turns & Finishes. This week’s winners are:

Sportsmanship - Annabelle Swenson, 9-10 Girls

On her Medley Relay, Annabelle demonstrated what it means to be a good sportsperson and set us up right for the entire meet! She stayed in the water when the race was over, waiting for all swimmers to finish, stayed with her relay team, and then cheered for the visiting team’s swimmers. Her staying in the water was noticed and then reciprocated throughout the entire meet. Way to lead by example Annabelle!

Cheering - Ruby Binkowski, 11-12 Girls

Sometimes knowing when to ask for help is just as important as the cheering. Ruby noticed during the free relays that behind the blocks didn’t have anyone ah whooshing loudly and her voice just didn’t project. She came to coaches asking for a loud commanding voice to be brought behind the blocks to help hype up the team. Noticing is one thing, doing something is another - way to go Ruby for stepping up to when you saw the need!

Turns and Finishes - Charlie Cox, 13-14 Boys

Charlie worked all week on his open turns. On his main event breaststroke, his turn was something to be studied - beautiful! He kept his head down, faced the wall, and was on and off in a flash!

Congratulations to Jackson March, 15-18 Men, our high point scorer of the evening. He won three individual events and was on two winning relay teams.

Parent volunteers are essential for a smooth meet! Our Volunteer of the Week is Destini Abercrombie! Destini takes care of our award ribbons each week, but was also flexible to step in as a timer when we needed more people. And she does all of this with a smile on her face! Thank you to Destini and all of our volunteers!

Our next meet is at home versus Lakemont next Tuesday, July 2, at 6:00 pm. Please make sure you have declared your swimmers’ attendance in SwimTopia by Saturday evening. Please see Coach Beth’s earlier email about the timeline for next week. We will have pictures, a parade, and senior recognition.

With Piranha Pride,

Kathy
