First Swim Meet Tomorrow!

Good evening Piranha Parents! I hope you are excited about our first meet tomorrow at home versus Durant Trails. Below is some information you may find helpful:

Timeline

5:00-5:30 - Home Team Warm-Up

5:30-6:00 - Visiting Team Warm-Up

6:00 - Meet Starts

New Parent Meeting: What to Expect at a Swim Meet

Join Kathy Livengood for a quick introduction to TSA swim meets on Monday evening during the Pasta Pump Up. She’ll go over what to expect during a swim meet and answer any questions you might have about how the meets run.

Parking

We encourage those in the neighborhood to walk or carpool to the pool on the evening of the swim meet, if possible. We would like to reserve the interior lot for our visiting team, so, if you need to drive, please park on Connell and use the Piranha Path or park in the first lot beside Oak Park Road. As you know, our parking is limited so any effort your family can make to save parking spots for visitors would be greatly appreciated.

Concessions

We will have a team-run concession stand during home meets with proceeds benefiting the swim team. This Tuesday, we will be serving Tamales from Raleigh Tamales for $7 (Chicken, Pork, or Bean & Cheese), Nachos for $3, Hot Dogs and Veggie Dogs for $3, along with a selection of snacks, sweets, and drinks for $1. Cash and cards are accepted. There is a $5 minimum to use a credit card.

Extra Events

We will host a 25-yard butterfly for 6&U swimmers with a sweet treat at the end as well as a Coaches’ Relay at the conclusion of the meet. Neither of these events count towards the final score for the meet.

Deck Area and Facilities

Below is a map of our pool deck setup for meets. While we have some deck chairs, it is recommended that you bring your own folding chairs if you are able.

Timing and Place Judging (New This Year!)

Previously, order of finish was determined by place judges. Beginning this year, the order of finish will be determined by time. We will use stopwatches for timing. Per the 2023 rules, we will have one Order of Finish Judge that will be used as a “back-up” to timing. We need two timers per lane plus a Head Timer who will start back-up watches. Anyone who is currently signed up as a Place Judge for tomorrow’s meet will become a Timer.

Heat Sheets

This week’s Heat Sheet will be sent to parents Tuesday morning. Please make sure you know what your child is swimming prior to coming to the meet.

I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow evening!
